#StandWithFavelas On January 10 in Takoma Park

Please sign up below to attend “Defend Democracy In Brazil: Politics and Music,” a fundraiser for Catalytic Communities at Busboys and Poets in Takoma Park, on January 10 from 6:30-8:30pm.

On Thursday, January 10, Sports Editor of The Nation and author of “Brazil’s Dance With the Devil: The World Cup, The Olympics, and the Fight for Democracy,” Dave Zirin, and Georgetown Brazil historian and author of “Hard Times in the Marvelous City: From Dictatorship to Democracy in the Favelas,” Bryan McCann, will be hosting a fundraiser for Catalytic Communities entitled Defend Democracy In Brazil: Politics and Music at Busboys and Poets in Takoma Park, from 6:30-8:30pm (235 Carroll St NW). We will also be blessed with the beautiful live samba and forró of Pablo Regis! Please come out to learn about the current political situation in Brazil, show solidarity, enjoy amazing live Brazilian music, and learn about CatComm’s work with favela organizers across Rio de Janeiro. And please spread the word to friends, colleagues, and neighbors, and help us make this a big event.

If you cannot attend, please sign up for updates on this campaign and consider making a contribution, at any level. If you sign up for monthly donations you’ll be playing a special role in ensuring we can continue with this vital work. Given the political uncertainty we are working in, our work will be tougher if our financial stability is uncertain too.
